Five Random Facts

Five Random Facts about Cerella

1. I love Joan Crawford movies.

Don’t ask me why. Maybe it’s that feral gleam in her eyes or the unapologetic arch of those eyebrows, but I’m fascinated by her films every time. No one in movies before or since has played catty, or determined, or crazy in quite the same way. Even thirty-plus years after her death, she still never fails to stir up controversial emotions for people. But you gotta give her this: just like a train wreck, you can’t help watching every time.

My favorite films of hers (for any who might be interested) include: Mildred Pierce, Queen Bee, Johnny Guitar and Sudden Fear.

2. I’m all about leaves.

I have this thing for leaves. I suppose it’s the nature lover in me, but anything with a leaf motif or tree design tends to sucker me in every time. Whether it’s calendars, mugs, jewelry, prints or clothes; be it maple, oak, hickory, birch or ash – If it has a leaf on it, it is so mine.

3. I’m addicted to coffee.

They say admitting you have a problem is the first step, right?

4. Goofy was once my imaginary friend.

Someone once told me that children who have an imaginary friend are marked for creativity and intelligence. Ahem. I don’t know about that, especially when your imaginary friend of choice is none other than Disney’s Goofy character.

Yes, you heard me. Goofy.

Okay, so he wasn’t the coolest character on the block. I KNEW that, even at the age of five. In fact, I shamefully once tried to think of him as Mickey Mouse (determining this would put me ahead somehow in terms of popularity among my peers.)

But it wasn’t the same. Goofy was my pal; he understood me. (Doesn’t say much about my own character, does it?) Maybe he’ll never be the leading man, but he was a good bud to me, as a kid.

(Don’t worry. My current imaginary friends all end up in my books, and that’s PERFECTLY sane, right?)

5. I have the same initials as both my siblings AND my mom.

CDS. For all four of us. Kinda made marking the underwear pretty pointless growing up.
